Alcohol Markers Technique Blog Hop

It is time for the Technique Blog hop and our technique this month is == alcohol markers. If you have come from Judy Faye's blog you are well on your way to seeing all the beautiful artwork.

Coloring with the new Close To My Heart alcohol markers is similar to other brands. Each color in our palette has two pens the base color and a shade, either lighter or darker. In the new 2013 Sprng/Summer Idea Book, you will see next to the item number a circle. If the circle is light, the coordinating marker will be a lighter shade and if it is dark, the coordinating marker is darker. This makes the ability to do shading easy peasy as you have the light and dark colors together. Each marker set is $5.95.

The markers have a paint brush end and a point end. While there is a point end, they do not outline sharp, it is not a fine tip and the ink will spread. I like to use the paint brush tip for painting, remember to use the edge of the brush and not the tip, so as not to splay your bristles. The point end is great for deep shading.

These markers are meant for coloring.

Here I used the Smoothie marker and starting with the lighter color, I filled in the image. The next step is to come back with the shading (darker color) and shade where the shading lines are shown on the stamped image. This stamp is not available.

You can also use it to color in whimsy shapes -- here I have colored in a frame stamp image from the stamp set Frame Flair (D1546). I used the Outdoor Denim marker and paired it with Pear ink for sponging the edges and the Silver Metallic Marker (Z1768 - comes with both gold and silver together).

Now it is time to hop on over to Kindred Hearts blog --

I love comments, so please share your thoughts -- thank you! If you like what you see here, hop over to SHOP, SHOP, SHOP.
